II.1.4) Short description: As part of its strategy to provide affordable housing within the borough, LB Tower Hamlets identified number of suitable sites within its own estates with potential for residential development and to deliver its own 100% affordable new housing on these Council owned sites.
The site at St Paul’s Way was purchased from the NHS by London Borough of Tower Hamlets as part of a development programme to increase housing supply in the borough. The existing building is a former GP surgery which adjoins the redeveloped Leopald Estate. The site is relatively flat with existing trees on the site. Planning approval was obtained in July 2019 to demolish the medical centre and construct a 7 storey building to provide a community space at ground floor level and 23 x 1, 2 and 3 bedroom properties
This mixed tenure scheme will deliver 23 homes.
Tenderers are asked to note Section 8 of the Design and Access Statement in relation to the building’s appearance
